Clinical Pharmacist - (Maternity Cover)

Nightingale is one of the UK’s largest homes providing care for up to 250 older people. We offer a continuum of care : residential, nursing, dementia and respite care. We are based conveniently located between Wandsworth Common and Clapham South. We are in a unique position of having our own in-house pharmacy as well as a range of other clinical services on offer to our residents. We have recently been recognised as an “excellent” service by our regulator, the Commission for Social Care Inspection, with a 3-star rating - the highest. A Clinical Pharmacist is sought to provide maternity cover and to complement our comprehensive clinical services team. Activities Co-ordinator

Full Time - £17,800p.a

The Activities team works to provide a stimulating environment, promoting the well being of our residents by organising events and outings, such as theatre and gallery visits. Nightingale has impressive facilities, including a concert hall, and a fully equipped Arts and Crafts Centre. As a pivotal member of the team, you will have responsibility for leading and co-ordinating activities for approximately 48 residents and reporting to a multi-disciplinary team, as well as developing and supporting special projects. You should enjoy working with older people, including those who may be physically or cognitively impaired, and be a good organiser with strong communication skills. This is a varied and challenging position for which a competitive remuneration package is offered, together with excellent on-site facilities, including subsidised staff restaurant, staff gym and car parking. Nightingale Information Sheet

Nightingale is the largest residential and nursing home for older people in the United Kingdom, caring for nearly 250 residents from one location. We are a specialist resource for older members of the Jewish community.

History

Nightingale is a registered charity that has been in existence since 1840 having been founded in the East End of London to provide services to older members of the Jewish community. Nightingale moved to its current location in 1907, the original building having been donated by Lord Wandsworth for the use of the charity.

Location

Nightingale is located in South West London, being equidistant between Clapham and Wandsworth Commons.

Transport

Nightingale is within 10 minutes walk of either Clapham South Underground or Wandsworth Common Mainline Station. Local bus services also operate. Limited parking facilities exist on site which operate on a "first come first served" basis, with limited street parking being available in the locality at given times in the day.

Management

The Trustees maintain an overview of the work of Nightingale. Nightingale is managed on a day-to-day basis by a Chief Executive supported by the Senior Management Team together with a number of Heads of Department. The management structure can be seen on our Who's who at Nightingale page.

Staff

Nightingale employs over 300 staff who work in the following departments:

Nursing employs by far the largest number of staff, including a bank of staff who assist by meeting gaps in the roster of permanently employed qualified Nursing and Healthcare Worker staff.

Dietary Laws

As a home for members of the Jewish community, Nightingale complies with the Jewish dietary laws. This means that no foodstuffs, other than fresh fruit, may be brought onto the premises at any time.

Staff Restaurant

A subsidised staff restaurant operates, providing a range of foods from sandwiches and rolls, salads to soup, main course and dessert at lunchtime. A breakfast service is also available.

No Smoking Policy

To comply with the Health Act 2006 Nightingale operates a no smoking policy, although there is an external area for those staff who do smoke which may be used during authorised breaks in work.
